Magnitron Lab is a collaborative project between Shine Grooves and Gost Zvuk, focused on the design and production of experimental cassette-based musical instruments.
At the core of Magnitron Lab is Andrey Kurokhtin — an engineer and artist who personally designs, engineers, and hand-assembles every Magnitron unit in Yekaterinburg. Each device is built entirely by hand, resulting in a strictly limited output of around 30 units per year.
The current iteration is Magnitron-2, reflecting an ongoing engineering evolution of the instrument. While each new version introduces technical improvements and refinements, every Magnitron generation retains its own sonic character and functional advantages, making each release distinct rather than obsolete.
